Frequently Asked Questions

New to dancing? Never danced before?

If you are a complete beginner and have never danced, do not be concerned. Many of our students, both young and old, have never danced before. We recommend you take at least 1 private lesson before joining an existing class which has already started, but definitely not mandatory. From there you can start taking some of the beginner group classes or just continue with some private instruction to give you a better understanding of the different dance styles and what you would like to work on.

Do I need a partner?

Absolutely not! If you come without a dance partner, you will be paired with an instructor that will dance with you. In all our group classes we rotate partners so everyone gets a Chance to improve their leading and following skills with a variety of partners.

How long are the lessons?

All of our group classes are 1 hour in length, and private lessons are 1/2 hour or one hour in length. Many of our students use time before or after lessons for practice, taking a group class or for taking another lesson.

Do I have to pay all at once? What are my payment options?

Both lessons and groups are offered on an individual or package basis. This means that you can either pay as you go or purchase a lesson or group package to take advantage of our discounted rates.

Should I practice? If so, how much?

It all depends on your goals and how fast you you’d like to progress. You may practice at one level for a special dance at a wedding, or socially, and another level when participating in a dance competition. Although it all depends on you, for the best success we recommend you take notes after your class and plan to spend time going over your notes in practice. Of course, one of the best ways to increase your proficiency is to practice go out dancing as much as possible.
